A Long Island teen is suffering from a punctured lung after he and his friends were set upon by a large group of thugs.
It happened on Tuesday in Freeport.
Nassau County detectives say the teens were walking on Dehnoff Ave. when they were approached by the large group. Some of the males were wearing bandanas and face masks and told the victims to stop walking.
The four teens decided it was a better idea to take off running. One teen didn't get away. He yelled out to his friends that he had been stabbed. The 17-year-old was rushed to the hospital for the stab wounds.
The large group ran away with the boy's cellular telephone.
Police didn't have any detailed description of the attackers, only calling them males and black.
Detectives request anyone with information to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244 TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
