Sources: Bronx Shopping Cart Assault May Have Stemmed From Livery Dispute

Police are examining surveillance video as they try to track down whoever tossed a shopping cart off a Bronx parking garage, seriously injuring two men walking below.

Sources say it may have been a dispute among livery cab drivers.

Investigators say the cart was pushed off an upper level of a parking garage near Home Depot at the Gateway Center in Mott Haven last night.

Camara Lounaeu, 52, and Ibrahima Sagne, 30, were both hit in the head.

They were taken to Lincoln Hospital where their conditions are described as stable.

Workers in the mall say both men are livery cab drivers.

Sources say the incident may have been the result of a dispute over fares.

People who spoke with NY1 say they now have to be extra cautious when going about their shopping .

"I wouldn't say nervous, but I can definitely say I would definitely be taking a second look before I take the next direction, um definitely looking both ways now," said one shopper.

"I would think people would learn their lesson and not do it again, but it seems like people like to learn the hard way, or maybe they just want to go to jail,"s aid another.

This comes just months after a similar incident outside a Target in Harlem.

The day before Halloween, two 12-year-old boys pushed a cart off a garage at the East River Plaza, seriously injuring 47-year-old Marion Hedges.

Both boys pleaded guilty to assault.
