Off-Duty Officer Fatally Shoots Brooklyn Teen During Alleged Robbery

Police are investigating after a teenager was shot and killed by an off-duty police officer late last night during an apparent robbery attempt in Brooklyn.

It happened just before 12 a.m. Monday outside 22 Grove Street in Bushwick.

Sources say the off-duty officer was walking along the street when the teenager and another man came up behind him and apparently tried to rob him.

The teen hit the officer on the left side of his face with a cane while the other man simulated that he had a gun.

Sources say the officer identified himself and fired once, hitting the teen in the chest area while the other man ran off.

The officer was taken to the hospital for trauma and injuries to his face.
