NYPD Auxiliary Van Hits Pedestrian

An NYPD Auxiliary Police van pulling out of a parking spot near the 5 Precinct station house in Lower Manhattan struck and fatally wounded a pedestrian Friday morning, the police said.
The driver of the van apparently lost control and jumped the curb, hitting an unmarked police car as well as the pedestrian just after 11 a.m. in front of 25 Elizabeth Street in Chinatown, the NYPD said.
Medics rushed Kok Hoe Tee, 55, of Brooklyn to New York Downtown Hospital, where he died.
NYPD's Highway Patrol Accident Investigation Squad is investigating the sequence of events, but police do not suspect any criminality at this time, authorities said.
The New York Post reported that the driver of the van was an auxiliary police chief, who passed an alcohol-breath test.
