The New York City Health Department is blaming the death of a 10-year old Brooklyn girl on the recent heat wave.

The unidentified girl died on Saturday.

The medical examiner says the death is blamed on hyperthermia due to exposure to high temperatures. The girl also had an underlying medical condition that was not identified.

The girl was the second death that has been certified as hyperthermia during the record heat. A 94-year-old Brooklyn woman also died on Saturday during the 100-degree weather.
