Crane Collapses, Causes Minor Oil Spill

A crane collapsed on a barge in Brooklyn Monday, causing a small oil spill.

Coast Guard officials say that just before 2:00 p.m. they received a report that a 70-foot crane tipped over into the water in the Gerritsen Inlet south of Marine Park.

About 10 gallons of vegetable oil and diesel fuel leaked into the water.

A company was called in to clean it up.

Coast Guard officials say there's currently no oil sheen on the water.

It's not clear why the crane was there.

There are no reports of injuries.
