Two Men Who Traded Shots With NYPD Officer In Custody

Two men were taken into police custody in the Bronx Monday following a shootout with a police officer.

The New York City Police Department says it happened just after 3 p.m. at the corner of East 219th Street and White Plains Road in Williamsbridge.

Investigators say an officer was talking to someone about a shooting in the area when two armed suspects came out of an alley.

The officer chased after the men.

One of the suspects fired a shot, and the officer returned fire but no one was hurt.

Additional officers arrived on the scene and arrested the suspects.

Charges are pending.
