A 15-year-old high school student in Queens was arrested for weapons possession Friday after bringing a BB gun to school.
The Department of Education says police locked down Richmond High School in Richmond Hill around noon after receiving calls about a student with a gun.
The student's identity has not been released.
Students and parents who spoke with NY1 say the scene was calm as police did their search, but were still scared.
"You would look outside the classroom, and you would see four to five cops walking around every 10 minutes, 10 seconds, you would see them pass by, so we were scared, we were wondering what was going on," said one student.
"She said she was scared, because normally school is a place you try to be safe, as much as you're at home, so she was pretty scared, I think all the kids are," said one parent.
The incident led to an early dismissal for students.
