Screwdriver-Armed Passenger Demanded Different Route On Brooklyn Bus, Police Say

Police are investigating an attack on a bus driver in Brooklyn.

Investigators say a passenger on the B57 bus threatened the driver with a screwdriver, demanded the bus take a certain route, and then punched the driver in the face.

It happened near Smith and 9th Streets in Gowanus Friday morning.

Transit Union Local 100 representatives said another passenger stepped in to stop the confrontation and later pushed the angry passenger off the bus.

According to the union, the driver was treated for a cut on his nose.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
