One Injured In East Side High-Rise Fire

Investigators are working to determine the cause of this morning's residential high-rise fire in Manhattan that injured one person.

The fire broke out just after 5 a.m. on the eighth floor of a building on East 76th Street near First Avenue.

It took firefighters about 45 minutes to get the flames under control.

A building resident who did not evacuate said there was no cause for alarm.

"This building was built very well. No, I didn't think it was going to come to me. If it was, they would've told me to get out," said the resident. "We have 360 tenants."

One person was hospitalized in serious condition.
