Firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire at the Bronx's Montefiore Medical Center this afternoon.

Authorities got a call about a smoking generator at the hospital at about 1:30 p.m. By 2:15 p.m., all visible fire was extinguished, but authorities said there's a heavy smoke condition in the basement and they are trying to prevent it from infiltrating other floors.

About 100 firefighters are at the scene.

The hospital has declared an in-hospital emergency and the emergency room is closed.

Some areas are being evacuated.

No injuries have been reported.
