A body found in a remote area of eastern Pennsylvania in November has been identified as that of a Brooklyn eatery owner who had been reported missing just a day before.

The body of 30-year-old Joshua James Rubin was found in South Whitehall Township on the morning of Nov. 1, authorities in Lehigh County, Pa. said. It had been set on fire, and an autopsy determined the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the body.

Rubin, who lived in the Ditmas Park section of Brooklyn, owned Whisk Cafe at 1119 Newkirk Ave., according to authorities. The business has been closed since Rubin was reported missing by his family at 9 p.m. on Oct. 31.

Investigators were able to use DNA to identify Rubin.

Rubin, who is from Rhode Island originally, had opened his cafe during the summer. He produced an online video chronicling his journey to open the coffee shop, posting it to Vimeo (embdeeded below).

There was no information on a possible suspect or motive.

Anyone with information about Rubin is asked to contact to the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force at 610-437-5252.
