A New York City Parks Department employee was stabbed to death Tuesday by a co-worker at the recreation center where they worked, police say.
Police say Ezra Black,31, a seasonal employee from Brooklyn, was stabbed in the chest by his 51-year-old co-worker, Robert Swann, at the Al Oerter Recreation Center in Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens.
Black was taken to New York Hospital Queens, where he later died.
Police say there was an ongoing dispute between the two workers.
"Someone was saying, 'he got a knife, he got a knife. Everybody watch out he's gonna stab him,'" said Ashley Montez, who was watching her sister's soccer practice on the nearby fields when she heard the fighting.
Montez said it was "very rare" for an act of violence like this to happen at the park.
Police retrieved what they believe to be the murder weapon -- a kitchen knife -- and arrested Swann nearby.
He was charged with murder and criminal posession of a weapon.
The Al Oerter Recreation Center is a gathering place for families and children around Queens. Mayor Bloomberg visited the center earlier Tuesday for a news conference, just hours before the chaotic scene.
