Two construction workers are in critical condition after falling three stories from the roof of a residential building when it collapsed in Brooklyn Monday morning, emergency personnel said.
Five workers were on top of the building, at 227 Carlton Ave. in Fort Greene, when I-beams gave way and the structure collapsed around 9:30 a.m., authorities said.
The two workers who fell about 30 feet were taken to Brooklyn Hospital Center and Kings County Hospital in critical condition, officials said.
There were no violations and permits were issued for the four-story, two-family building, officials said.
It wasn't immediately clear what caused the collapse.
