Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly went to East New York, Brooklyn to pay a special Christmas visit to the stationhouse of the late Detective Peter Figoski, who was gunned down two weeks ago during a robbery.
The emotional visit to the 75th Precinct came during roll call for the night crew.
Figoski worked the midnight shift until he was gunned down two weeks ago while providing backup to other officers during a robbery.
"We know that you're going to carry on and build on his legacy, and for that the people of New York City are always going to be grateful," said Kelly. "So I simply want to thank you for all of your efforts here and wish you and your families a merry Christmas and a happy new year."
Five men have been charged with murder in Figoski's death.
