Shots were fired at an armored car robbery in the Bronx Thursday morning, and police are pursuing two suspects.

Sources tell NBC New York that a bag of money was taken from the truck, carrying a large sum.  It's not clear if anyone was hit by gunfire.

The robbers struck the armored car as it was parked outside a check-cashing facility on Third Avenue and 154th Street in the South Bronx.

Jorge Gonzalez, who was around the corner, said through an interpreter that he heard "like seven shots" and saw a gun-wielding suspect who appeared to be hit by gunfire.

He said he was scared when he saw the guns and feared he would be shot.

The FBI has joined the investigation. There have been no arrests.
