New York City police say two men tried to scale beams on the Williamsburg Bridge and have been arrested on charges of criminal trespass.
James Stafford, 22, and Brice Farrell, 25, were arrested Wednesday after aviation unit officers detected them on the metal beams above the pedestrian walkway on the Williamsburg Bridge. Officers had to climb up to get them. Police say it's not clear how high up the two were at the time. It wasn't clear if the two had lawyers.
Police say the two wanted to take better photos, and were arrested with cameras. Commissioner Raymond Kelly says there was no terror threat, and scolded such acts as a waste of department time.
The bridge connects Brooklyn to Manhattan's Lower East Side. It was finished in 1902.
