MANHATTAN — A man was struck and killed by an SUV after slipping on snow at an East Harlem intersection early Saturday morning, police said.
The victim, who was crossing Third Avenue from west to east at the corner of East 111th Street, was hit by a 1998 Dodge Durango traveling north on the avenue about 4:20 a.m., the NYPD said.
Police noted the victim slipped on the street, after snow began blanketing the city early Saturday morning.
The driver, 52, remained on the scene, and police do not suspect criminality at this time. The victim has not yet been identified.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg told New Yorkers Saturday to enjoy the weather but be careful of slipping in the snowy conditions.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory through 4 p.m. Saturday.
